  • Taught HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, Flash, ActionScript to college students.
  • For one advanced Web Development class, I had each student build a database-driven “50 States” website in PHP and MySQL, with content about each of the U.S. states served from a MySQL database.
  • For another, I had each student create an original in-browser video game, from start to finish.
  • In additional to teaching technical and coding skills, imparted principles such as user interface design, responsive layout, and progressive enhancement.

Freelance

Web and Game Developer
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

I did freelance work during this period, specializing in website and online game development.

  • Created interactive content for clients including Oklahoma Publishing Company (publishers of the Oklahoman newspaper and newsok.com) and Turner Entertainment (cable broadcasters of CNN, TBS, TNT, and Cartoon Network).
  • Built several “advergames,” fun online games that promoted an event or business. These included jigsaw puzzles, mazes, racing games, and one where you had to beat up a cow.
  • Built “Wichita Faro,” an online simulation of the classic Old West game faro. This beautiful game was praised by critics, and was even included as a kiosk in a museum in New Mexico. I licensed it to Turner Broadcasting to put on their Into the West website.
  • Built an online Texas Hold ’Em poker game engine which was so good I sold it to Turner Broadcasting twice. First it was the game “Very Funny Texas Hold ’Em, ” then two years later it was re-skinned as “My Boys Texas Hold ’Em” to promote a new sitcom on TBS.
  • Built “Dashabooja,” an original poker-based game inspired by the art and music of India. I licensed Dashabooja to Big Fish Games.
